But one thing that I've found is that the people here are offended easily.

Don’t get me wrong, I obviously enjoy this show but…these pirates…has anyone else noticed that they never do any actual pirating? I mean, they’re constantly on the run from the law but, as far as I can tell, they haven’t actually broken any laws aside from a few fist fights. Their captain strives to be “king of the pirates” and yet he hasn’t pirated ANYTHING, not even one time.

I think you misunderstand Luffy. Clearly he is not like any other pirate 'cause he's a good person, like Shanks. They don't go around pillaging innocent villagers but he lives the life of a pirate, a life of adventure. For him, being a pirate is about being free, doing whatever it is that you want to do. What does Luffy want? He wants to go on adventures and look for treasure with a ship full of his friends! That's what being a pirate means to him and that's what he's doing. (for bad guys that translates to pillage and hurt innocent people). The Straw hats just had an awesome adventure in Skypia and "stole" a bunch of gold from the townspeople and took off, lol. Sure sounds like he's doing exactly what he said he wanted to do, living his pirate life :)

When people like you have lost an argument, they revert to what you just did, completely ignore the logic and behave like a child. Sailor is right, there's a huge difference between attacking for defence and attacking out of malice. For you to turn around and say 'oh but he could have done such and such instead' IS the loser argument, that's what splitting hairs means. It means you're desperately trying to find some way to make your argument seem true, even though logic has already proved it false (like upvoting your own comment lmao!) Sometimes in life and death situations, shit happens (yup, i'm speaking from experience here). And in those moments, you have to make snap decisions, you're working on instinct. NO ONE can come in after the fact and tell you what you should have done instead, unless THEY had gone through it as well. It's all fine and dandy to say, 'oh well, he could have used his haki' sure, but what was going on in that moment? what was he feeling? Was he angry, hurt, and possibly frustrated beyond measure that he was being attacked yet again? That his friends and colleagues were once again in danger? Here's a person fighting for their life against an organization who doesn't even think twice about killing CHILDREN (Robin's backstory anyone? MARINES Kill innocent people yet you're not giving them grief) and you want Shanks to hold back against evil like that? You clearly have no idea what it means when life puts your back against a wall.

Go back to sleep little one, and come back into the world when you've grown a little bit more and realize that life is not all rainbows and unicorns. There are hard decisions to be made in hard moments. If you're not ready for that, just keep watching anime.
